Where’s my password to log in?


Go to our Login Page and click “Can’t Login” at the bottom. Enter your email address and you’ll receive an email to reset your password.

What does it all cost?


Becoming a member is free.

Guests that book a host are charged our Community Booking Fee (12.5% of the Host Fee) on top of the total Host Fee. So, if the total Host Fee is $100 – our Community Booking Fee will be $12.5 and so you will pay a total of $112.5 The money is used to run our shared Human Hotel community.

Hosts set their own nightly rates and we don’t charge any host fees. As a host, you keep 100% of your host rate.

Is Human Hotel like Airbnb?


Not really. You can of course rent rooms and homes from fellow members, and some of our navigation might look similar – but profit is not the goal of Human Hotel. We are on a social mission to support creatives and forge new meetings and collaborations among you all. Also, we are run by artists.

Who do you mean by “creatives”?


Artists, scientists, designers, filmmakers, activists, writers, researchers, technologists, entrepreneurs and any other talented and visionary individuals doing great work. No random tourists!

Do I have to host guests to be part of Human Hotel?


No. It’s totally up to you if you want to just be a traveling guest, a local host or someone that meets up with visiting members in your home town.

I don’t live in one of your cities. Can I still join?


Of course you can! You can join now no matter where you live. On can search anywhere in the world for hosts on our Host Search Page.

Will you add more cities to the Main Locations?


Most definitely! More cities are added as we grow the community. We want to be able to host you everywhere you go and you can apply to join no matter where you live.

If you want to start receiving guests but your city isn’t listed with us, you can become an Ambassador. Email us at contact@humanhotel.com to learn about how you and your community can start receiving guests by becoming an Ambassador.

Where can I host guests?


Host guests in your LIVING ROOM, GUEST ROOM or rent out your ENTIRE HOME. Simply choose which spaces you can host guests in when you upload your host info. Become a host today!

How do I get paid?


As a host, you will get paid out 24hrs. after the stay is complete.

You have 2 options for how to receive payments:

  1. Connect your PayPal Account
  2. Connect your Bank Account

Go to your Payout Preferences page to choose your payout method.

Is Human Hotel like Airbnb?

I live in a small place. Can I still host?


Yes. You can host in a shared room, on the living room couch on in the floor of your studio. We believe all is good, as long as there’s an acceptable level of comfort and cleanliness provided.

How much should I charge?


You set your own rates. However, we’ll only present you with guests worth supporting, so please support them by charging 5-10% less than you would on mainstream listing platforms.

Do you take a fee from my rate?


No.

How many Host Spaces can I have?


The maximum amount of host space addresses you can have is 2 addresses our platform. Within each address, you can list as many spaces (living room, guest room and entire home) options as you can. We do not allow professional listing managers in our community, nor do we allow more than 2 host space addresses.

Where do I upload my host info?


In your Member Dashboard, go to your Hosting panel and then click the button “Upload Your Host Space”.

Who are the typical guests?


Artists, scientists, designers, filmmakers, activists, writers, researchers, technologists, entrepreneurs and other fun and visionary individuals doing inspiring work worth supporting. No random tourists!

What info can guests see on my host profile?


Profile info — Profile photo — First name — Hometown — Occupations — Personal Description — Keywords about your interests— Keywords about your practice — Description of your practice — Practice-related images — Practice-related videos — Host info — Your Nightly Fee — Images of your Host Space — Description of your Host Space — Extra Details & Amenities — Your General Location — Your Cancellation Policy

Do I have to be home to host?


No. Some of us can only host when we’re traveling ourselves and staying elsewhere. In such cases – and if the guest is interested – we offer to connect the guest with local Human Hotel members in the area who would be interesting to meet.

Have property insurance coverage?


Yes we do. We’re very committed to creating a safe and trusted Human Hotel environment, so even though we have never had any property damages (in our entire history), we understand that you need protection.

We have therefore created our Host Insurance Fund which will reimburse eligible hosts for damages up to $10,000 (USD). If you experience any damages to your property, please send us a message immediately to hostinsurance@humanhotel.com and we’ll handle the case accordingly and find an appropriate method of settlement between you and your guest.

What does it cost?


Becoming a member is free.

Guests pay a 12.5% fee on top of their booking total to our community. So, if you book a stay in NYC worth $100 – our booking fee is $12.5.

Hosts set their own nightly rates and we don’t charge any host fees. As a host, you keep 100% of your host rate.

 

How do I pay to confirm my booking?


You can pay for your stay using PayPal account or your credit card.  

Once your host has ‘Pre-Approved’ your booking request, you will receive an email notification to complete the booking. You will need to find your message thread with your host from your Member Dashboard or Inbox (Traveling) and click the green ‘BOOK’ button at the top of the message thread. You will then be taken to the final payment page to choose paying via PayPal account or credit card.
