ABOUT MY SPACE

We have a large living room with two couches. There's a desk to work at with a lamp. AC. There is a privacy wall that we put up for guests. A locker to stow clothing. Laundry is the basement. 24 hour doorman.

We're located two blocks from Yankee Stadium, one subway stop from Manhattan. The Bronx Museum of Arts is two blocks north.

Our building is art deco, spacious and quiet. Sunken living room. A dining table.
Small kitchen and bathroom. Lots of hot water! Heat in the winter, AC in the summer. Fan available.

Projector for watching movies. Wifi.

The neighborhood is near the Bronx borough municipal hall. There's lots of life here, lots of people working. A starbucks nearby, as well as small diners. We are on the historic Grand Concourse. Two large parks are in front of our building. There's lot of cheap food in the neighborhood!

ABOUT ME & MY WORK

The Illinois River Project seeks to connect unemployed persons where are have been excluded from employment due to criminal histories with ecologically-motivated fishing in the Illinois River region. The targeted invasive species of silver carp offer an abundant opportunities for earning income in a fun and easy manner. The fish are used as compost and clean soil of certain toxins which have been found to cause learning disabilities and violent behavior. Often the soils that are most toxic are in neighborhoods that are most impoverished and racially segregated. With basic building skills, individuals can contribute to society and earn an income while working to fight environmental racism.
