space in your home with overnight guests by creating your host profile on the COP26 homestay network: Climate.humanhotel.org

Receive
messages and booking requests from COP26 visitors who would like to stay with you during the conference.
You’re free to accept or decline any request.

like-hearted climate defenders in your home and be part of the movement.
You’ll only host guests who you have spoken to and approved.

What are my safety responsibilities as a host?
As a host for overnight guests, you have a responsibilty towards their fire safety. If you are receiving payment from guests then there are certain legal requirements that you must meet in accordance with Scottish law.
Please read our Fire Safety Guidance thoroughly in order to ensure everyone’s safety.
I live outside of Glasgow - can I still sign up to host?
Yes! We’re asking everyone in the Central Belt of Scotland – within one hour’s train ride from Glasgow – to sign up as hosts. So that includes Greater Glasgow, Falkirk, Stirling, Edinburgh, and other towns in the region.
Should I still sign up as a host even though the pandemic isn’t over in Scotland?
Yes! Signing up as a host gives us a fantastic pool of accommodation options for activists, delegates and scientists looking to plan their trip to Glasgow for COP26 in November. The more hosts that sign up earlier, the better – because you’ll not only be helping out people who need to plan their accommodation well in advance of November, but you’ll encourage other hosts to sign up too.
Once you sign up as a host, you’re free to accept or decline any request made by potential guests. In the event that the Covid pandemic significantly worsens, the COP26 Coalition and Stop Climate Chaos Scotland team will make a decision on whether the Homestay Network will be used at all, and communicate this out to all potential hosts and guests well in advance of COP26.
Can I host guests for free?
Yes you can. It’s very important that people from all backgrounds and income levels can participate in the COP events.
As a host, you might be living under certain subletting restrictions that prohibit you from hosting paying guests, even for short term accommodation. If that’s the case, you can host for free as well.
To help keep our platform running, and to keep the guest committed to their bookings, we only charge guests our one-time $25 Community Booking Fee when booking a free host space, no matter how long their stay is.
How much should I charge overnight guests?
The COP26 Homestay Network is about people, not profit. Though, we recognise that hosting overnight guests comes with extra costs for you. We’ve prepared a Fair Pricing Guide to help you.
Will I get to choose who stays in my house as a guest?
Absolutely, guests find host spaces that they want to book, and then hosts are able to view this booking request (including the guest’s profile) and decide whether to accept or not. You’ll also be able to chat privately with the guest before accepting, using the message function on the site.
Can I have more than one listing?
Yes – you can list multiple rooms of your home separately, if you have more than one spare room, or a living room and a spare room – for example.
We do not condone or support private landlords with multiple properties purchased for rental. For this reason you may have a maximum of two addresses in total.
To list multiple spaces within one address, sign in to your host profile, select Manage listing and then Upload a host space. Don’t forget to publish your different host spaces when you’ve finished
