Why should I become a host?

Support climate action by housing activists overnight
Not only will you be supporting the climate movement’s remarkable efforts, but housing a guest can reduce accommodation emissions by more than 80% and energy usage by more than 70%* compared to a hotel stay.

Ensure that all voices are heard
Accommodation costs can exclude people from being able to participate in actions and mobilisations.
Make sure that everyone has a chance to make their voices heard by providing free or low-cost accommodation for those who really need it.

Be human, not a hotel
We hope hosts will be natural, respectful and authentic to themselves and to their guests. There’s absolutely no pressure for you to act like a hotel. Basic comfort and basic kindness. A sofa or mattress on the floor is great.
Meet remarkable people and connect with the movement.

FAQs
Find answers to some of the more frequent questions about hosting here and in our customer support area.
Can I host guests for free?
Yes you can. It’s very important that people from all backgrounds and income levels can participate in the community.
As a host, you might be living under certain subletting restrictions that prohibit you from hosting paying guests, even for short term accommodation. If that’s the case, you can host for free as well.
To help support Coalition efforts and future mobilisations, guests will be chargeda tiny fee of less than £1 per night. This card transaction also enables us to verify their identity to keep you safe.
How much should I charge overnight guests?
The Climate Homestay Network is about people, not profit. Though, we recognise that hosting overnight guests comes with extra costs for you. We’ve prepared a Fair Pricing Guide to help you.
Will I get to choose who stays in my house as a guest?
Absolutely, guests find host spaces that they want to book, and then hosts are able to view this booking request (including the guest’s profile) and decide whether to accept or not. You’ll also be able to chat privately with the guest before accepting, using the message function on the site.
