The Rebel Homestay Network
Support XR by hosting a Climate Justice Fighter

21st APRIL 2023 | LONDON

Host a Rebel in London

Opening your home (and your heart) to a rebel coming to London to highlight the government’s inaction on the climate and ecological crises is a massive contribution to the movement.

It’s easy to sign up, simple to use, and makes a huge impact.

Stay in affordable and sustainable housing

The Rebel Homestay Network is one of the most environmentally-friendly and affordable accommodation solutions.

Host during mobilisations and support fellow rebels as post-arrest care for those with court appearances.

Mobilise a new city

What we do

The Rebel Homestay Network allows people around the world to offer space in their private homes during the XR Rebellions. Climate Fighters visiting can then book and stay in these spaces.

Through this homestay concept, we hope to start more conversations around the climate and ecological emergency, foster connections between the movement and local communities, and most importantly to offer affordable accommodation to those who need it most.

Who we are

xr.humanhotel.org is an independent and self-contained homesharing community for the climate justice movement. It is created by Extinction Rebellion UK in partnership with Human Hotel with the aim of becoming a long-term, international platform.

Extinction Rebellion UK is the UK-based branch of an international movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience in an attempt to halt mass extinction and minimise the risk of social collapse.

Human Hotel is a creative studio that strives to build real human connections. We began life by finding housing for over 3000 activists in Copenhagen for the COP15 in 2009.

Why are there booking fees?

The aim of the Rebel Homestay Network is for it to be a long term, self-sustaining platform. There are significant costs associated with operation and development, so for now, there are booking fees attached to each booking in order to support this work.

Fees raised during the April Rebellion 2022 will be used for the next round of development and enable us to remove fees from all free hosts in the future.

I don't have a spare room, can I still get involved?

Absolutely! You can list a couch, crash space or outside space (garden, parking space for a camper van) for those who are comfortable sharing space.

What are the terms and conditions?

We keep things simple and straightforward for our guests and hosts. You can read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use on our website.

What's the difference between xr.humanhotel.org and booking.humanhotel.com?

xr.humanhotel.org is the specially designed Rebel Homestay Network. It was set up as a collaboration between Extinction Rebellion UK and Human Hotel in for the summer rebellion in 2021. Following the success of that event the Rebel Homestay Network continued operating in Glasgow for COP26 and is now ready for the next UK Rebellion in 2022.

The aim is for the platform to become an long-term international network of accommodation support for XR rebels.

booking.humanhotel.com is the original Human Hotel platform – ‘a curated community for like-hearted humans to share homes and connect.’ It offers its users the opportunity to host and stay with each other around the world.

I want to support the climate movement but can’t host during the Rebellion, how else can I get involved?

There are lots of ways to get involved with the activities in and around Rebellion to support Extinction Rebellion’s campaign to meet the 3 demands. Sign up to the mailing list here and more information can be found here about joining Extinction Rebellion in a way that is meaningful to you. Join us!

You can also sign up as host anywhere you are, and be part of the long term future of the Rebel Homestay Network.
