Photographer Ewa Godd on cloning and authenticity

Allegedly, we each have 7 doppelgangers in the world. We are said to be unique since we are very young and we are used to greatly value our individuality but at the same time, none of us is really special (apparently).

Cloning is a different thing, however (and no, the sheep in the banner pic is not Dolly 😉 ). In fact, as similar to us our doubles might be, surely none of them has the same genetic material as we do. Being able to clone ourselves would mean being able to leave a permanent and infinite trace of ourselves in the world and confront ourselves with our true essence.

Photographer and Human Hotel member Ewa asks herself: “Why would we clone anyone? It may be fascinating for someone as an experiment with many questions, however feels like a waste of time. There’s no need for duplicating people. Nature has a pretty easy, fast and awesome way for us to reproduce and create diversity of beings. And diversity is awesome, I am a huge fan. Instead of cloning, I would rather humanity discovered a button which could immediately make my mind clear, my heart brave and my body ready to act on it.”

Ewa is a passionate photographer focused on finding out and exploring how to be free in mind, excited in heart, brave in action and able to freely express.

“I want to celebrate being a woman, investigating the connection between woman and magic, woman and nature…

I want to find out who we are as a tribe of women“

“I’m curious. I’m curious who people are when nobody is watching, I’m curious who I am when nobody is watching. I photograph to capture that specific gaze, that moment of connection with true self, that look on the face, that second after we feel safe enough to take off the last mask and allow ourselves to be, to breathe, to notice our emotions.

Moreover, lately I’m especially fascinated by female energy and wisdom, sensual and feminine moments. I want to celebrate being a woman, investigating the connection between woman and magic, woman and nature. I want to photograph skin, hair and body, emotions and moods, rituals, strengths and weaknesses. I want to find out who we are as a tribe of women.” – she says, affirming that being in alignment with her true self inspires her the most.

She is currently trying to find the way to connect her photography work with energy work. The core for both interests is searching for authenticity and connection to true self.

She is skilled in photography, relief printmaking, Lightroom, art, and arts & crafts, but she is also a budding tattoo artist!
